British Computer Society
The British Computer Society is the leading professional body for the IT industry. With members in over 100 countries around the world, the BCS is the professional and learned Society in the field of computers and information systems.
The BCS is responsible for setting standards for the IT profession. It is also leading the change in public perception and appreciation of the economic and social importance of professionally managed IT projects and programmes. In this capacity, the Society advises, informs and persuades industry and government on successful IT implementation.
The BCS Code of Conduct sets out the professional standards required by the Society as a condition of membership. It applies to members of all grades, including students, and affiliates, and also non-members who offer their expertise as part of the Society’s Professional Advice Register.

The Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is a customizable framework of best practices that promote quality computing services in the information technology (IT) sector. ITIL addresses the organisational structure and skill requirements for an IT organisation by presenting a comprehensive set of management procedures with which an organisation can manage its IT operations. These procedures are supplier independent and apply to all aspects of IT infrastructure. Since the mid 1990’s, ITIL has been a world-wide de facto standard for IT Service Management.

PRINCE2

PRINCE (PRojects IN a Controlled Environment) provides benefits to the managers and directors of a project and to an organisation, through the controllable use of resources and the ability to manage business and project risk more effectively.
PRINCE embodies established and proven best practice in project management. It is widely recognised and understood, providing a common language for all participants in a project. PRINCE encourages formal recognition of responsibilities within a project and focuses on what a project is to deliver, why, when and for whom. PRINCE provides projects with:

A controlled and organised start, middle and end
Regular reviews of progress against plan and against the Business Case flexible decision points
Automatic management control of any deviations from the plan
The involvement of management and stakeholders at the right time and place during the project
Good communication channels between the project, project management, and the rest of the organisation.

Prince2 Practitioners have demonstrated their ability to apply the PRINCE2 method to the running and managing of a project within an environment supporting PRINCE2. To this end they have exhibited the competence required for the Foundation qualification, and have shown that they can apply and tune PRINCE2 to address the needs and problems of specific project scenarios. Prince2 Practitioners are required to revalidate their knowledge and recertify every 3-5 years via a three hour examination.
